A little over a year ago, I started planning and hosting small reading and writing circles at cafes and once or twice even at my home. Initially, I did these for myself because I wanted to connect with like-minded individuals who felt as passionately about Speculative Fiction books as I did and build a community. It is not easy to find people who get excited over Speculative fiction books, are thrilled by Horror, swoon over dark fantasy books, or reminisce about childhood fairytales.
I wanted a space where people could slow down, read, write, talk about stories, and create memories together. These intimate gatherings were always delightful, but they also made me realise I wanted a bigger space where more people could join in and experience it.
I’m excited that this year I’ve started collaborating with Alliance Française de Karachi to host the Immersive Reading Writing Circle every month.
Our first big session took place on 2nd May, and honestly, it was such an exciting and fun experience. Even though I expected a smaller turnout, a wonderful number of people showed up, and everyone participated so enthusiastically. We had silent reading sessions, free writing with prompts, games, little prizes, and even a fiction book swap. Seeing people genuinely excited about reading, writing, and connecting made me so happy.
I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who came and made the session feel so lively and welcoming. I’m already looking forward to the next Immersive circle happening in June.
Stay tuned for upcoming announcements, and if you’d like early registration updates, make sure to sign up for my newsletter or follow me on Instagram, where I’ll be sharing future events and other fun things too.
